Lesson 2: Dueling Skills
Excellent, you decided to come back for the next lesson! Today we'll be covering six important traits of duelists. Yes, it may sound a bit boring, but these skills are what make the difference between an amateur and a champion.
Logic
Well, what exactly is logic? Let's start this trait off with a brief definition. Logic is, simply put, reasoning. Now why would you need logic for duelling? You need to be logical in a sense that you will be able to learn from your opponent's way of duelling. With logic you'll be able to predict your opponent's next move, spell, or even his game plan. Being able to logically deduce what your opponent will do next will give you a major upper hand. Also this gives you the extra time you need to either defend yourself, or attack them if needed. This trait deals mainly with your brain. So if you keep a sharp mind, your logical thinking will help you out immensely.
"Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end." -Leonard Nimoy
"Logic is the anatomoy of thought." -John Locke

Concentration
Concentration is you focusing your attention to one thing and one thing only. As this is important in possibly every sport, you've probably heard phrases such as "in the zone" or "get your head in the game." These phrases are just catchier ways of saying you need to let your mind focus only on what you are trying to do at the moment, and blocking out any other thoughts. Concentration takes a great deal of brain power at some points in time. The more damage you have taken from your opponent and the stress of the situation can make you lose concentration. Since lack of concentration can prove fatal when dueling, you must develop this trait so you won't easily lose focus.
"Concentration is the secret to strenght" -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Determination
From all the definitions I've read I've decided to sum all of them up into one simple one. Determination is basically decision making without the influence of other people or events. It could be called your drive or your will-power, or your desire to achieve a goal. If you want something, your determination allows you to get it. Obviously, you must have a strong sense of determination when dueling. When the duel isn't going your way, your determination is what makes you keep going. If you are determined enough you won't give up no matter how well your opponent is doing.
"A failure establishes only this, that our determination to succeed was not strong enough."

Resourcefulness
Being resourceful simply means you can adapt to new situations very quickly. This is quite helpful in duelling as you probably guessed. But why is this important? Well there are going to be many different situations when duelling. Most of which are never textbook definitions. Some people play by the rules and other simply use the rule books to blow their noses. You must be ready to adapt to any numerous different situations. But not only adapting to situations. Being resourceful is also helpful when your trying to make new things. Suppose your in the woods under heavy fire from your opponent. A normal person would just see a dead tree in the woods. A resourceful person would see a hiding place or maybe a sheild. So being resourceful is a wonderful trait for any duellist to have.
"They didn't survive by eating each other; they survived by being resourceful" -Julie Schablitsky
Creativity
What does it mean to be creative? Being creative is bringing something into world. But it also means taking something and making it even more usefull. Creativity and Resourcefulness go hand in hand really. So why does this make a good trait for duelling? A plain, boring duellist does the same thing over and over again. A creative duellist tries different combination of spells and attacks. This makes them unpredictable. An unpredictable duellist is much more dangerous than a plain ol' duellist. It also adds to the fun and excitment of duelling.

Luck
How can luck be a great quality for you to have to be a world famous duellist? Luck is the force that brings good fortune into the world. But still how can that be useful in the world of duelling? Simple. Everyone needs a little luck. With a little luck, your opponent might miss you, they might make a wrong move, or you might be just a little stronger. You never know what a duel can throw your way. So why not have a little luck to help turn events to your favor? Now this is not saying you can take Felix Felicis. That is considered illegal and you will not be doing that in here because well that is unfair. A fair way is to just let the luck choose who it wants to flow too. Hopefully, it will be to you!
"I'm a great believer of luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." -Thomas Jefferson
