Term Project: Planning the Dueling World Cup
For the final project, we're taking a field trip to the Dueling World Cup! There are several ways you can get involved with the world cup - feel free to choose a single option or to mix and match, taking on multiple roles! The maximum number of points you can earn is 60. The deadline is June 15th, but you have the whole term to complete it, so go ahead and get started!
Planning Committee - Part A: Because of your expertise in the art of dueling, you've been selected for the planning committee of an international dueling tournament! Time to brainstorm some ideas to present at the committee meeting! Describe the plans you have made for the Dueling World Cup!
Planning Committee - Part B: In this option we would like for you to show us in a picture what your Dueling World Cup would look like. You can depict what your decorations would look like, create a map of the tournament grounds, design the tournament arena(s)... The options are limitless! In general, 15 points will be awarded per picture; highly detailed or complex drawings or graphics may be awarded more points. You are also welcome to submit more than one image!
Champion Duelist: You've been practice dueling all term, and you've entered yourself in the dueling tournament. Tell us the story of how it went! You can write this as a short story, diary entry (or even a series of diary entries!), or just a brief anecdote. 15 points per 150 words.
Journalist: You've headed to the world cup with one goal in mind: scoring an interview with the champion duelist. Come up with a series of questions to ask the winner and share their answers with us as well. For 30 points, write ten questions and answers.
Adoring fans: You're just along for the ride, hoping to watch some fun duels and take in all the action. Share your experience with us in image form! Here are some things you could include:
As you've noticed, these assignments are quite flexible... and they can be even more flexible as well! Don't hesitate to ask if you want to propose an alternative assignment idea. And please send a message if you have any questions about the requirements or just want to make sure you're doing enough to earn the full 60 points.
- Where would it take place?
- What types of refreshments would you have?
- How would you organize the tournament?
- Would there be other entertainment for the fans?
